Crucifix

14th/15th century
Poreč Basilica, Croatia

This work retains the skirt and straight arms of the earlier Romanesque style, but it shares its own age's emphasis on pathos. Jesus is clearly dead, the five wounds are clearly visible, and blood flows from them all and from the crown of thorns.
